Digging Deeper: Read Number 13:1-14:12
- What stands out to you from this passage of scripture? Give the Holy Spirit a moment to lead you to specific thoughts, words, or phrases. What insight, questions, or observations do you have? Write them down, and as a group try to answer them.
- What was the report of the spies returning from God’s Promised land? Was the spies’ report accurate?
- What do you believe caused Caleb and Joshua to have a different report than the other 10 spies?
- How did the discouraging report from the 10 spies influence the people of Israel?
- What was the Lord’s response to the people of Israel? Why do you think the Lord’s response was so severe?
Make It Personal:
- What do you find yourself complaining about lately? Share with your group.
- A Cognitive Bias is defined as: a mistake in reasoning based on one’s personal experiences or preferences. How can our cognitive bias help us, or hurt us?
- Read Philippians 1:12-14. What was Paul’s cognitive bias? How was he filtering his situation?
- On Sunday Pastor Jason made the point, “You cannot always control what happened to you, but you can always control how you frame it.” What circumstances might the Lord be calling you to reframe?
- Review the three steps to Reframing Your Story discussed on Sunday. Which step is most impactfully for you? Which one do you find the hardest?
- Read 1 Thessalonians 6:16-18. How might you take steps this week to place this verse into practice?
- What is one take away or action that you have gained from this week’s sermon, life group, or personal study?
